Mad Apple closes September 5, Awakening closes October 10, and Menopause the Musical has ended its Las Vegas run.

Mad Apple closes September 5

Cirque du Soleil’s Mad Apple at New York-New York plays its final performance September 5. It opened in 2022 as the replacement for Zumanity and has drawn more than 1.2 million ticket-holders over its run, combining acrobatics, live music, and stand-up comedy. It was the first Cirque du Soleil resident show to feature stand-up. Tickets for the remaining performances are on sale now, so visitors who want to see it have about two weeks left. No replacement for the theater has been announced.

Awakening closes October 10

Wynn’s Awakening, the high-tech production narrated by Anthony Hopkins with a 60-person cast, closes October 10 after nearly four years in the Awakening Theater. It opened in November 2022 after Le Rêve ended at Wynn. Wynn’s page now lists final performances through October 10, and the company has said a new production is planned for 2027, with no details announced yet. You have about seven weeks if you want to catch it.

What this means if you’re planning a trip

Two closures inside five weeks is a bigger shake-up than usual, even for a city where the show lineup always turns over. If either production is on your list, book now rather than assuming it will still be running next month. If you are planning further out, both theaters go dark until their replacements are announced, so do not count on either production for a trip past October.

Also worth knowing: Menopause the Musical has already closed

Quietly, without the same fanfare, Menopause the Musical played its final Las Vegas performance June 27 at Harrah’s Cabaret, ending a 21-year run that made it the longest-running scripted musical in the city’s history. It is not currently running in Las Vegas, though the production continues in other cities. If you had it on a list from an older guide, cross it off.
