Sponsored Content Guidelines

Our commitment to transparency, editorial integrity, and compliance with FTC and search engine guidelines.

1. Sponsored Content Disclosure

ThingsVegas is committed to full transparency with our readers. When content is sponsored, paid for, or created in partnership with a brand, we disclose this clearly and prominently.

How We Disclose

  • Sponsored articles are marked with a disclosure statement at the top of the article
  • Sponsored mentions within existing articles may include a disclosure note where the mention is substantial
  • Guest contributions from external writers are labeled with the author's name and affiliation
  • We comply with FTC guidelines on endorsements and testimonials

2. Contextual Mention Policy

Contextual mentions (brand mentions placed within existing, already-indexed articles) are subject to the following editorial standards:

  • Available only on topically relevant existing articles — the linked resource must genuinely serve the reader
  • Links must fit naturally into the content and not disrupt the reading experience
  • ThingsVegas retains full editorial control over anchor text, placement, and surrounding copy
  • No exact-match keyword anchor text stuffing
  • No hidden links, footer links, sidebar links, or sitewide placements
  • Maximum 1 sponsored reference per article unless editorially justified
  • ThingsVegas may decline a placement if the target URL is low-quality, irrelevant, or violates our content standards

3. Rejected Industries

ThingsVegas will not publish sponsored content or accept paid placements from the following industries:

Online gambling, casinos, or sports betting
Cryptocurrency, forex, or binary options
CBD, cannabis, or vaping products
Payday loans or predatory finance
Escort services or adult content
Weapons, ammunition, or explosives
Weight loss supplements or unproven health claims
Hate groups, extremism, or discrimination
Illegal activities or substances
Any topic unrelated to Las Vegas or travel

4. Link Policy

Commercial, sponsored, or partner links may be qualified with rel='sponsored' or rel='nofollow' where appropriate. Editorial links are approved case by case and must be relevant, useful, and non-manipulative.

Additional Link Standards

  • Maximum 2 external links per article unless otherwise approved
  • No hidden text, cloaked links, or deceptive redirects
  • No keyword-stuffed anchor text or unnatural link patterns
  • No links to malware, phishing, or scam websites
  • No bulk link insertion across multiple articles
  • ThingsVegas reserves the right to modify or remove any link at any time

5. Editorial Review Process

All sponsored content goes through the same editorial review process as our independent content:

  • Content must provide genuine value and useful information to readers
  • Must be factually accurate and verifiable
  • Must be well-written and properly formatted
  • Must be relevant to our audience (Las Vegas visitors, travelers, lifestyle readers)
  • Must not make misleading claims or use deceptive practices
  • Must comply with all applicable advertising regulations
  • Must not be keyword-stuffed or written primarily for search engines
  • ThingsVegas retains full editorial control — we may edit titles, copy, anchors, and links for quality and compliance

6. Permanence Policy

All sponsored content remains live indefinitely. Content may only be updated or removed if there is a legal, editorial quality, payment, or policy compliance issue. We do not remove content after a set period.

What This Means

  • Published articles stay live indefinitely under normal circumstances
  • URLs remain indexable and self-canonical
  • Content may be updated for accuracy or editorial quality over time
  • We do not guarantee specific search engine rankings or indexing timelines

7. Correction & Removal Policy

ThingsVegas reserves the right to correct, update, or remove content under the following circumstances:

  • Content contains factual errors or outdated information (we will correct rather than remove where possible)
  • Content violates our editorial standards or was published in error
  • Legal issues require removal (DMCA, defamation, court order)
  • The linked website becomes malicious, irrelevant, or violates our standards
  • Payment disputes or chargebacks on sponsored content
  • Content is found to be plagiarized or duplicated from another source

If you need to request a correction or update to published content, contact us at info@thingsvegas.com.
